Susancai, literally “plain tricolor”, was invented in Zhengde period (1506-1521) of Ming dynasty and thrived in Kangxi period (1654-1722) of Qing dynasty. Susancai is usually made by applying green, yellow, and eggplant purple on the unglazed ware.
